The opening track on Country Falls is called Sweet Little Kitten, which is a fair indication that Slipknot fans can go and click elsewhere. WeΓÇÖre in floaty, ethereal territory here, in the company of Helsinki-based Marko Nyberg, who turns out a cool line in folktronica, often serving as a backdrop for the even cooler vocals of Reeta-Leena Korhola. Many of the tracks change direction intriguingly: the gently throbbing City Lights brings to mind first Black Box Recorder, then Stina Nordenstam; Rainbow Flows begins all soundtracky, but turns into a lo-fi funk reading of a Joni Mitchell song; Gasoline Girl starts out all Air, but ends up all Daft Punk. Such subtle twists and turns elevate Country Falls above mere dinner party background music ΓÇô although it could certainly do that job rather well.
